ARG Workforce is seeking a motivated Customer Service Officer (CSO) to join our Client's Service Centre team in Mackay from 5Th Jan
This frontline role is critical to delivering exceptional customer service, supporting sales outcomes, and ensuring accurate order processing.
Reporting to the Branch Manager, you will be the key point of contact for customers and play an important role in maximising DIFOT (Delivery In Full On Time) performance.
This is a hands-on, operational role suited to someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, building strong customer relationships, and contributing to continuous improvement.
There is also opportunity to develop estimating skills through training and on-the-job experience.
Key Responsibilities
Safety First
* Work in accordance within safety procedures and standards
* Identify and report hazards, incidents, and near misses
* Maintain a safe, orderly workplace and support emergency procedures
Customer Service
* Deliver high-quality customer service via face-to-face, phone, email, and other channels
* Provide accurate product information, pricing, and order updates
* Investigate and resolve customer enquiries and complaints efficiently
* Liaise with internal teams and other Service Centres to resolve supply and delivery issues
* Monitor DIFOT performance and identify opportunities for service improvement
Sales & Order Processing
* Accurately enter and process customer orders using Symix/ARMA (or similar systems)
* Prepare and follow up on customer quotes while maintaining margins
* Ensure freight is charged correctly to recover costs
* Maintain accurate records and support inventory management
* Identify and communicate sales opportunities to Account Managers and the Branch Manager
About You
You will bring a strong customer focus, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
Experience & Qualifications
* Experience in the building or construction industry is highly regarded
* Sales or customer service experience in an operational environment is an advantage
* Estimating experience is desirable but not essential
Skills & Competencies
* Strong customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills
* Ability to read or develop understanding of construction drawings and building practices
* Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word) and order processing systems
* Well organised, accurate, and able to manage multiple priorities
* A team player who values safety, accountability, and continuous improvement
