The IBD Nurse Practitioner (NP) works in consultation and collaboration with Medical, Nursing and Allied Health staff to assist in the care and coordination for patients referred to GV Health for the treatment and management of inflammatory bowel disease. The NP role is a registered nurse who practices at an advanced clinical level.ScopeThe scope of practice of the clinician is determined by the context in which the NP is credentialed by GV Health to practice. The Nurse Practitioner's Model of Care is determined by the NP's scope of practice and aligned with the strategic plan pillars of GV Health. The IBD Nurse Practitioner practices within their own professional scope of practice and will be supported by protocols and guidelines.The endorsed Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a registered practitioner by the NMBA. The NP meets and complies with the NP standards for practice, has direct clinical contact and practises within their scope under the legislatively protected title ‘nurse practitioner' under the National Law. The NP conducts advanced, comprehensive and holistic health assessments to clients within our community.The protected title of Nurse Practitioner allows the nurse to apply diagnostics, prescribe to their endorsed notation and implement therapeutic interventions to plan and evaluate quality care that is safe and evidence based. The NP assessment and early intervention includes collaborative care where referral to and from other clinicians is required to assist with the management of the client. Nurse Practitioner (NP) IBD role will provide a clinical consultancy service for the Shepparton and the greater community within the Region.Essential:Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as a Nurse PractitionerSatisfactory National History Criminal Check prior to commencement of employmentSatisfactory Victorian ‘Employee' Working with Children Check prior to commencement of employmentCompletion of a Commonwealth of Australia Statutory Declaration prior to commencement of employmentAbility to work in a team environmentAbility to effectively problem solve, negotiate and communicate with patients, staff and other service providersDemonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional developmentDemonstrate that experience, skills and knowledge you must assist to achieve the clinical domains of practice of Clinical consultation, Supporting Systems, Education, Leadership and Research.Desirable:Graduate Diploma or Graduate Certificate in bowel or a gastroenterology related fieldWorking knowledge and understanding of inflammatory bowel diseaseSkills in database entryExperience in providing an advisory helpline for patientsFamiliarity with the Australian complex drugs programIf qualifications are a requirement for this position, please attach a copy in support of your application.
