Fortescue is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to support the safe, compliant and efficient operation of our electricity network.
Reporting to the Principal Engineer – Power System Connections, Standards & Assurance, this role is responsible for ensuring all connections to the Fortescue network meet regulatory and technical requirements. You will play a key role in maintaining and improving standards, processes and systems that support the safe and reliable generation, transmission and distribution of electricity across the network.
This position offers the opportunity to work across a diverse and evolving energy portfolio, supporting both operational excellence and future network growth.
Key Responsibilities
Provide engineering advice and support for transmission and primary distribution networks, generation and protection systems
Support development and continuous improvement of transmission and distribution safety rules and standards
Develop and maintain network isolation systems and procedures, including remote operations
Support integration of isolation systems with operational technology and control room practices
Develop and maintain connection process documentation, standards and procedures
Review and approve HV submissions for connection or modification of network assets
Ensure compliance with technical rules across existing and new infrastructure
Monitor and report on network power quality performance
Provide technical support to internal and external stakeholders connecting to the Fortescue network
Contribute to capital and operational improvement initiatives across the network
Qualifications And Experience
Electrical Engineering degree
Minimum 5–7 years’ experience in power systems, transmission or distribution environments
Strong knowledge of HV networks, protection systems and electrical standards
Experience with connection processes, commissioning and energisation procedures
Strong understanding of regulatory and technical compliance requirements
Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
Ability to contribute to process improvement and technical standard development
