About the Role
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented
Cyber Security Analyst
to join our team in Australia. In this role, you will be responsible for monitoring, detecting, and responding to security threats while helping to protect the organisation's systems, networks, and data.
You will work closely with IT, engineering, and risk teams to improve security posture, respond to incidents, and support ongoing security initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
* Monitor security alerts and events using SIEM and security monitoring tools
* Investigate, analyse, and respond to cyber security incidents
* Conduct vulnerability assessments and support penetration testing activities
* Assist in implementing and maintaining security controls and policies
* Support incident response, remediation, and post-incident analysis
* Analyse logs, network traffic, and system activity to identify potential threats
* Contribute to security awareness and continuous improvement initiatives
* Maintain documentation and reports on security incidents and controls
Required Skills & Experience
* Proven experience in cyber security, IT security, or a related role
* Solid understanding of cyber security principles, threats, and attack vectors
* Experience with security tools such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, EDR, or firewalls
* Knowledge of operating systems (Windows, Linux) and networking fundamentals
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Ability to communicate technical issues to non-technical stakeholders
Desirable (Nice to Have)
* Experience in a SOC environment
* Familiarity with cloud security (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
* Knowledge of frameworks and standards such as
ISO 27001, NIST, or ASD Essential Eight
* Scripting or automation skills (Python, PowerShell, Bash)
* Relevant certifications (e.g. Security+, CEH, CISSP, or equivalent)
