This role
As the Tax Accountant, you will be a central member of the Finance team by ensuring our global business reporting and compliance obligations are delivered on time and accurately. There will be a heavy focus on tax, where you will be motivated by providing business support by offering high-quality tax advice and resolving tax related matters. You will also play a pivotal role in reviewing payroll tax compliance, reviewing balance sheet reconciliations, being a key point of contact for our auditors and managing regulatory reporting and tax submissions. The ideal candidate will be someone who is a great communicator with stakeholder management experience and a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment with lots of ambiguity.
This will include
* Manage/Assist with Employment Hero's tax compliance obligations including Tax Effect Accounting, Income Tax Return, Year-end statutory reporting, Transfer Pricing, FBT, R&D
* Review of Indirect tax and payroll compliance obligations including BAS/VAT returns, PAYG/PAYE, payroll tax
* Being the in-house technical tax and accounting expert. This will involve liaising with external advisors on technical accounting and tax matters, including strategies to optimise tax outcomes, and assist in preparing tax and accounting position papers, rulings and internal memos
* Act as the Main point of contact for group and local tax audits
* Review of relevant monthly balance sheet reconciliations along with coaching and mentoring of assistant accountants
* Ensure all internal and external reporting obligations are complied with (eg. government surveys, payment times reporting, insurance renewals, etc)
* Identify improvement opportunities and implement strategies, processes and controls to enhance business efficiency
* Manage annual Employee Share Scheme (ESS) reporting obligations and the tax implications of equity incentive plans.
Who you are
To thrive at Employment Hero, you'll need to embody The EH Way - operating with focus, agility, and an obsession with impact. For this role, you'll also bring:
* CA/CPA qualified, with at least 1-2 years PQE
* Tax/Business services experience within a public practice setting preferred
* At least 4 years of Australian tax and accounting experience; experience with international tax planning will be highly advantageous
* Intermediate to Advanced experience with Excel/Google Sheets
* Hungry, creative, enthusiastic, and data-driven with a diverse skill set to thrive in an environment of fast growth and ambiguity
* Strong planning and organisational skills with aptitude to learn and complete work within agreed deadlines
* Analytical skills to interpret and present accurate financial data
* Have strong communication and stakeholder management skills to work with various internal and external partners with varying levels of payroll/finance knowledge
* Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision
* Possess excellent decision making and problem-solving skills
* A positive attitude and strong work ethic
