6-month contract with potential extension Location: Canberra or other state capital city Fantastic team culture and environment APS6 Senior Internal Communications Officer Join a small, collaborative Employee Communications team within an independent federal statutory authority.
This role is critical to maintaining high-quality internal communications while the team focuses on a major intranet redevelopment project (transitioning from Drupal to SharePoint).
Reporting to an Assistant Director, you will be the first point of contact for employee communications and provide high-quality advice and communications support to stakeholders in a fast-paced organisation.
You'll manage business-as-usual employee communications, including newsletters and intranet content, while supporting engagement across the organisation.
This is a 6 month full-time contract which can be offered in a non-ongoing, S26 transfer or labour hire capacity.
Standard 37.5 hour week.
This role can be performed from Canberra or any other state capital city in a hybrid arrangement.
Please note that fully remote work is not an option.
Key responsibilities will include: Write, edit and publish internal communications, including articles and newsletters.
Manage forward scheduling and planning for internal content.
Build strong relationships with content contributors and senior stakeholders.
Manage centralised inboxes, and allocate/escalate work as required.
Contribute to reports and key messages for senior executives on upcoming initiatives and events.
Provide support across the Strategic Communications Branch as needed (eg. web publishing, internal event support).
Undertake analysis on employee communications activities.
What We're Looking For Experience in a communications role within the public sector (essential).
Excellent attention to detail and strong written communication skills.
Strong organisational and administrative skills for planning and scheduling.
Ability to engage and collaborate effectively with senior stakeholders.
Familiarity with content management systems (SharePoint experience beneficial).
A Bachelor's Degree in journalism, communications or public relations (desirable).
Australian Citizenship.
