Role Summary

Simulation Educator

* Location: Sunshine Hospital
* Employment Type: Part-Time (32 hours/week), Ongoing
* Salary: CNE (Major) + Superannuation + Salary Packaging
About the role

Western Health is committed to delivering Best Care and actively supports the use of simulation education and translational simulation across the organisation.

The Simulation Educator is responsible for designing, developing, and facilitating high-quality simulation-based education within the simulation centre and across clinical areas. This includes the use of translational simulation to identify system, process, and safety improvements that enhance patient care. The role also focuses on building organisational simulation capability by supporting and educating other educators to effectively utilise simulation as a teaching, learning, and improvement tool.

Key responsibilities
* Design, develop, deliver, and evaluate high-quality simulation education, and translational simulation, aligned with organisational priorities and patient safety goals.
* Facilitate simulation activities across the simulation centre and clinical environments, including effective pre-briefing, scenario delivery, and debriefing ensuring psychological safety is maintained.
* Use translational simulation to identify system, process, and operational improvement opportunities and contribute to quality and safety initiatives.
* Build simulation capability across the organisation by educating, supporting, and mentoring educators and clinicians in simulation-based teaching and debriefing.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary stakeholders to integrate simulation into education, training, and service improvement activities.
About you
* Advanced clinical knowledge with recent experience in critical care and/or paediatrics, including experience in clinical leadership roles.
* Demonstrated experience in simulation education and/or translational simulation, with relevant training (e.g., Certificate IV TAE40110) and/or postgraduate study in education.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution and the ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
* Highly developed problem-solving, innovation, and adaptability skills, with the ability to work autonomously.
* Proficiency with ICT systems, including troubleshooting and supporting simulation technology and educational platforms.
