Primary objective
Manage administration operations and deliver support to families and staff by delivering high quality educational programs for
students with additional needs in partnership with families, community and professional networks to achieve optimal educational
outcomes via distance education.
Context statement
Katherine School of the Air is a distance education school with a student population of 260 students – Preschool to Year 9. The
school strives for excellence using innovations in technologies and online teaching pedagogies to enhance outcomes.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Actively support the planning, preparation, implementation, and assessment of individualised educational programs for
students with additional needs in a distance education setting.
2. Deliver one on one and small group online lessons to students using ReadWrite Inc (RWI), Fresh Start, Spelling Through
Morphology and maths intervention programs.
3. Develop and effectively maintain appropriate working relationships with students with disabilities, families and work
colleagues whilst maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
4. Manage and complete a range of administrative tasks including word processing, data entry, photocopying, bookbinding,
laminating, classroom displays and maintain attendance records.
5. Assist with the creation of classroom and student resources as directed by school staff.
1. Participate in classroom activities, outdoor activities, contact event duties, patrols to families' homes and excursions. Assist
with the supervision of students at recess and lunch as required.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated experience working with students who have additional needs. This may include students who are significantly
below year level, have challenging behaviours, and who have deficits in adaptive functioning such as communication, self-
care, social/interpersonal skills and functional academic skills.
1. Proven ability to communicate effectively in an education setting or similar face-to-face and online with stakeholders who
have a diverse range of abilities.
1. Demonstrated experience in establishing mutually respectful relationships with internal and external stakeholders in a positive
learning environment to support productive partnerships.
1. Experience in undertaking a range of administrative tasks on computer applications and video conferencing software including
Microsoft Teams, Excel, or similar whilst maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.
1. Experience in supporting the management of accurate information, providing feedback, and monitoring ongoing progress to
communicate with line manager.
Desirable
1. Senior First Aid Certificate and current NT drivers' licence.
