Project Accountant (Capital Investments)
Reporting to the Investment Portfolio Manager for Network Operations, you will manage financial analysis and oversight for approved projects within the Network Operations business unit. This includes budgeting, cost reporting and control, forecasting and assessing project profitability. A solid understanding of the end-to-end project execution process is essential.
Responsibilities
Participate in the regular end-of-month processes – e.g. extracting information from SAP to provide to project managers
Process journals for the transfer of expenses into and out of project-related accounts where required
Review and advise on business cases and IEMs for new project submissions (project cost classifications, benefits, etc.)
Carry out review of monthly Financial Reports with Project Managers to assist in accurate forecasting
Close out project accounts upon project completion and capitalise assets into Fixed Assets Register
Provide monthly business performance commentary and reporting to satisfy enterprise reporting requirements and internal stakeholder business requirements
Investigate project variances to assist in variance commentary reporting to management
Drive continuous improvement, including preparation and maintenance of procedure documentation
Prepare and upload budgets and forecasts into relevant systems
Compile information for internal and external auditors as required, as well as any ad hoc reporting as required
About You
Appropriate tertiary qualifications in finance and/or accounting or a related discipline
Membership of CPA Australia, the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia, or equivalent
Strong business acumen, analytical, problem-solving, data manipulation skills, including Excel
Understanding of the Investment Management Lifecycle framework and associated Policy and Standard, and Project Management methodology and principles
