This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of complex mechanical and structural scopes within a fast‐paced site environment, working closely with supervisors, construction teams, and clients to safely and efficiently deliver critical project outcomes.
As a Project Engineer, you'll play a key role in driving project delivery from planning through to execution across challenging underground and surface works. This is a hands‐on role suited to someone who enjoys being in the field, solving problems, coordinating works, and building strong relationships with crews and stakeholders onsite.
Based onsite on a family‐friendly 2:1 FIFO roster, you'll gain exposure to large‐scale underground mining and industrial construction works while building your career within a growing business that continues to deliver major projects across Australia.
You'll make an impact by:
* Leading the planning, coordination, and execution of engineering scopes across underground and surface SMP works
* Designing and reviewing lifting plans, ensuring safe and seamless execution of critical tasks
* Identifying and procuring contractor‐supplied items related to work packs, coordinating across departments to streamline delivery
* Providing technical input into project schedules and engaging closely with supervisors and stakeholders to ensure milestones are achieved
* Assisting with estimating variation works and additional scopes, contributing to accurate project forecasting and delivery planning
* Preparing daily, weekly, and monthly reporting, including progress tracking and project claims
* Working closely with construction teams onsite to resolve technical and operational challenges as they arise
* Ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards
* Managing project documentation, compliance requirements, and risk mitigation activities
What you'll bring
* A Mechanical Engineering degree (preferred) with exposure to SMP, mining, or construction project environments
* Previous experience working within mining, construction, shutdown, or heavy industrial project environments
* Proven experience coordinating and delivering engineering or construction scopes onsite
* Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships across crews, supervisors, and stakeholders
* A practical, hands‐on approach to project delivery and problem solving
* A strong commitment to safety, quality, and team performance
Ideally, you will also have:
* Experience within underground mining or brownfields/live plant environments
* Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‐paced site environment
* Experience working with large datasets, quantity tracking, man‐hour reporting, or piping/material take‐offs
* Exposure to tools such as Excel Pivot Tables, Power Query, or Power BI
* The ability to think critically, adapt quickly, and perform well under pressure
