From the base of CQUniversity's Gladstone Marina campus, in the industrial port city of Gladstone, CMERC neighbours the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area (GBRWHA). CMERC staff have strong links with local industry, port and community groups and are working closely with Traditional Owners. CMERC has significantly grown its seagrass restoration operations in the last three years, and we are looking for a driven and experienced new team member to support CMERC's seagrass restoration projects in the Whitsundays-Airlie Beach region.The position will involve supporting the seasonal collection of seagrass propagules, processing samples, supporting field monitoring and maintenance of the seagrass nursery facility. As a research support worker, you will join our scientists in the field to collect seagrass flowers and assist in the preparation for and conduct of community collection events!You will assist our scientists to monitor the progress of reseeding projects locally, monitor the condition of our new SeaGrow nursery and other responsibilities and duties as identified in the CQUniversity Roles/Responsibilities for research support workers (available on request).Assisting with maintenance of seagrass nursery.Collection and processing of seagrass propagules.Sample collection and processing.Field monitoring assistance. Position Requirements MandatoryCapable of swimming 100m in open water and treading water for 15 minutes unassisted.Current Queensland Open Drivers' Licence.Demonstrated understanding of Occupational Health and Safety legislation.Current Certificate in Workplace First Aid.Current Certificate in CPR and Oxygen First Aid.Previous experience in research support.
