Who We Are
The Mid North Coast Local Health District (MNCLHD) is a government funded health organisation covering an area of 11,335 square kilometres from Port Macquarie to Coffs Harbour. MNCLHD serves a population of approximately 215,000 people with a workforce of 4,694 across seven hospital sites and 12 Community Health Centres. MNCLHD is a child‐safe organisation and a Veteran Employment Supporter.
What You'll Be Doing
Using innovative, evidence-based skills and interventions, you will professionally support individuals seeking assistance with alcohol and drug use. You will take a trauma‐informed approach and provide respectful, person‐centred care tailored to individual needs. Central to your role will be employing an individualised, holistic approach to care, incorporating comprehensive care planning to address the diverse physical, emotional, and social aspects of each person's journey.
Provide an effective and efficient Social Work service addressing the psychosocial aspects of care for patients, as identified. Provide intervention including support, education, and resources to people in the context of their bio‐psycho‐social situation to assist in dealing with health events.
As a Substance Use in Pregnancy and Parenting Service (SUPPS) Social Worker, provide a continuum of care to pregnant women and their children during the antenatal and postnatal periods within inpatient, outpatient, community, and home settings.
Work closely with the Clinical Nurse Specialist, providing specialist counselling and case management support services for clients who use drugs or alcohol and are pregnant or responsible for parenting children under the age of two years old.
A social worker position in the alcohol and other drugs sector offers a challenging and rewarding specialisation with a strong focus on human rights and intellectually stimulating work.
