Principal House Officer in General Medicine
The Mackay Base Hospital has opportunities for Principal House Officers to join their Medicine Department on a Temporary Full-Time basis.
Mackay is a vibrant regional centre in tropical North Queensland, servicing a population of over 190,000. The region has a thriving economy with a diverse range of tourism, agriculture, industry, mining, education, and health industries.
The Department of General Medicine manages patients with multiple active co-morbidities or undifferentiated illnesses above the age of 16 years that require ongoing inpatient, ward-based hospital care. We are a busy inpatient service with consultation and outpatient clinic responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide holistic care to patients admitted under the Department of Medicine under the supervision of a staff specialist.
* Participation in daily consultant-led ward rounds.
* Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments of patients in the emergency department, medical wards and outpatient setting.
* Arrange and initiate clinical investigations and discharge planning as directed by the supervising consultant.
* Participation in General Medicine or subspecialty outpatient clinics as directed.
* Ensure comprehensive, accurate and concise medical records are maintained for all patients.
* Participation in out-of-hours roster including nights and weekends.
* Participate in teaching, quality improvement and professional development activities as directed.
* Comply with and utilise procedures, policies, regulations and standards which impact upon the position.
Remuneration: Remuneration value up to $163,700 p.a. comprising base salary between $4,966.90 per fortnight - $5,470.70 per fortnight (L4-L9); employer superannuation contribution (up to 12.75%), annual leave loading (17.5%) is paid for 4 weeks leave, professional development allowance, and professional development leave 1.6 weeks p.a.
