Harvest and Quality Manager – Mountford Berries (Longford, TAS)
Lead People. Support Quality. Help Shape a Successful Harvest.
Mountford Berries is a proudly family‑owned business built on teamwork, integrity, and a supportive culture. We're looking for a long term, highly organised Harvest and Quality Manager who excels at leading people, coordinating operations, and maintaining quality and systems across our harvest season.
This role is not an agronomy position, nor is it a pathway to agronomy.
It is a people‑leadership and operational management role — ideal for someone who thrives on supporting teams, managing workflow, and making sure the wheels turn smoothly every day.
If you can prove strong people management experience and love keeping things organised, this could be the perfect fit.
About the Role
The Harvest Manager oversees all harvest operations, with a focus on staff leadership, quality control, system management, and harvest co‑ordination.
You'll work closely with our diverse, multicultural team — including seasonal and PALM workers — to ensure everyone has the tools, support, and direction they need to succeed.
This role is primarily people management and organisation.
You will:
* Train, lead, coach, and support harvest teams and supervisors
* Manage rosters for the entire harvest workforce
* Maintain quality standards and oversee quality reporting
* Manage packaging, stock, and warehouse organisation
* Operate and troubleshoot digital systems
* Drive communication, problem-solving, and continuous improvement
* Model safety, respect, and professionalism across the farm
What You'll Bring
We're looking for someone who can demonstrate people management capability — regardless of the industry you're coming from.
To be successful, you must have:
Proven leadership and people management experience
Strong organisational and planning skills
Confidence with technology and learning new systems
The ability to communicate clearly with diverse teams
A calm, solutions‑focused mindset
Previous experience managing teams of 20 or more people is desirable for this position.
Highly advantageous:
* Experience with rostering
* Experience in fast-paced, high-volume operational environments
* Experience managing multicultural teams
Non-negotiables:
* This is not an agronomy role and not an agronomy pathway
* Must be able to work weekends and longer days during the summer harvest period
* Must enjoy working with people and leading teams each day
* Must have full Australian working rights
Why Join Mountford Berries?
* A competitive salary package, including a company vehicle
* A family‑friendly, supportive working environment
* A culture built on respect, teamwork, and doing things well
* Opportunities to improve systems, contribute ideas, and make a real difference
* The chance to lead a hardworking, diverse team in a growing local business
