The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly motivated Planner to join our Planning and Regulatory Services team. You will be responsible for providing efficient, professional and customer focused planning services, which meet all applicable legislative obligations and complement other functions (infrastructure, building, environmental health and local laws) within the Shire.
This role is also responsible for:
* Professional planning advice on matters relating to the community, Government agencies and development in the East Kimberley
* Administering the Shire's Local Planning Scheme and land Use Control
* Lodging and recording development and other planning related applications
* Preparing and presenting reports to Council on planning matters
* Responding to general enquiries related to land use planning and development and the Shire's Local Planning Scheme, policies, relevant Acts, Local Laws or Regulations
* Providing excellent customer service and building and maintaining effective working relationships with external customers and stakeholders to achieve Shire goals
* Ensuring compliance with statutory provisions and technical standards.
A Degree in Urban and Regional Planning or related field, industry experience and current unrestricted WA Drivers Licence are essential for this role. You will need to be able to demonstrate sound knowledge and understanding of relevant and current statutory requirements, Acts and Local Laws within a Local Government planning context. This Role also requires well-developed interpersonal skills, well-developed report writing skills, sound time management skills and excellent computer skills.

Location and Remuneration Package
This fulltime permanent role will be based in Kununurra, Western Australia. An attractive remuneration package including base salary, allowances and 12% superannuation will range between $110,000 $115,000 per annum.
