Overview

Central Queensland Region is seeking an agile team player to contribute to the work of the Education Services team, with a focus on senior schooling.

This role can be based in any of our five (5) regional offices in Mackay, Rockhampton, Gladstone, Emerald or Longreach.

The Principal Education Officer, Senior Pathways and Transitions will work collaboratively with school and regional leaders to support the department's strategic vision of delivering excellence in every state school for every student through the Education strategy: Brighter futures.

The successful candidate will be employed at the classification listed on the attached role description under EOSD provisions.

About The Role

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

* Support schools around senior secondary goals outlined in the Ready for the future phase of the Brighter futures strategy;
* Support schools to implement the QCE system and achieve meaningful pathways for students through and beyond school;
* Support regional and statewide priorities including Year 10 to 12 pathways, Year 12 outcomes and destinations, high-quality delivery of Vocational Education and Training in Schools (VETiS) and school completion;
* Facilitate opportunities for school leaders to collaborate and share innovative practice leading to tangible outcomes for students and school communities;
* Provide advice and support to school leaders around senior schooling practices including monitoring retention, attainment and post-school destinations for every student through a shared case management approach;
* Prepare strategic, evidence-informed advice for senior regional leaders to support the ongoing monitoring of Ready for the future priority measures;
* Develop and strengthen productive relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including school and regional leaders, statewide senior schooling leaders, other government departments and agencies including the Department of Trade, Employment and Training (DTET), Vocational Education and Training (VET) providers and universities to support successful student transitions.

About You

We are seeking a proactive leader who can leverage their current or recent knowledge of senior schooling practices to:

* Support the strategic vision of the department through knowledge of the Brighter futures education strategy Ready for the future
* Lead with integrity and contribute to a culture of growth, agility and flexibility in a range of diverse and complex contexts.
* Drive accountability and outcomes, with a focus on continuous improvement.
* Share your deep understanding of Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA) QCE and QCIA system and syllabus requirements, tertiary entrance, Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank (ATAR) and Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre (QTAC) processes, the VET system and requirements regulated by the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA).
* Demonstrate exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively engaging with school senior schooling senior leaders (HoDs, Deputy Principals, Heads of School and Principals), as well as key regional stakeholders who support senior secondary outcomes including Regional School Industry Partnership (RSIP) Manager, School Supervisors, First Nations and Youth Engagement regional teams as appropriate.
