Initially a 6 month contract highly likely to extend for the right person.As a Security Engineer, you'll take ownership of security infrastructure from end to end in a smaller start up environment.Responsibilities:Build understanding of cyber security risk and threat modelling fundamentals.Design and implement secure authentication and authorization systemsDevelop and deploy high quality security platforms with comprehensive test coverage without supervision.Develop understanding of systems, technologies and processes, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.Conduct regular penetration testing and vulnerability assessments acrossDevelop and enforce secure coding standards and best practices in collaboration with DevOps and Engineering.Work closely with DevOps to secure AWS and/or Azure environments (IAM, VPCs, security groups, etc.
).Monitor, detect, and respond to security incidents and breaches.Manage and improve threat detection, prevention systems, and log analysis tools (e.g., SIEM, IDS/IPS).Stay current with emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and compliance requirements (e.g., SOC 2, ISO 27001).Key Skills / Experience5+ years of experience in cybersecurity, information security, or related roles.Broad range of security concepts, technology and domain knowledge, to effectively develop and deliver solutions Experience with penetration testing - desirabeUnderstanding of security in cloud environments— AWS and/or Azure.Experience with infrastructure-as-code and automation (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.)
is a plus.Familiarity with common compliance and security frameworks.
