Future Teacher Scholarship

At Sydney Catholic Schools (SCS), we cultivate the next generation of Catholic educators. Designed for school leavers and aspiring teachers, our scholarships embody our commitment to excellence in education.
This scholarship supports high-performing Year 12 students aspiring to careers in Primary or Secondary Education. Candidates will enter any university Initial Teacher Education (ITE) program in NSW.
Interested students are encouraged to apply, particularly those wanting to specialise in Religious Education, Mathematics, Science, Technology, English and Special Education.

* $2000 initial sign-up bonus to help get you started on your journey
* study costs reimbursed up to $5,000 per annum for 4 consecutive full-time years of study in a NSW Teacher Education program
* mentoring support and professional learning with experienced SCS teachers and leaders through our SCS Future Teacher Community of Practice
* support to secure employment in a classroom-based role with SCS, part time or casual whilst studying
* 3 years indentured full-time employment with SCS upon completion of study, subject to achieving Accreditations.
* excellent academic performance. You are expecting:
o an ATAR of 80 or above
o at least 3 Band 5 results in any subject, including English
o at least Band 4 in any Mathematics course (Primary teaching candidates)
* two supportive references, from your current Principal (or their delegate) and one other.
To continue in the scholarship throughout your degree, you will need to pass all of your units, and achieve satisfactory grades in all Professional Experience Placements.

* copy of your current resume
* within your resume, please ensure you include the name, phone number and email address for your two referees, one of whom must be your current Principal (or their delegate). Your second referee could be your current employer, parish priest, coach, or other
* your Year 11 Final Report Card and Year 12 Semester One Report Card or Update (please upload under Academic Transcript)
* your Year 9 NAPLAN report and any other documents demonstrating your academic capability (e.g. HAST, WISC IV or V, Newman Program Acceptance letter, SUiT results notice, or similar (please upload under 'Criteria Response').
When you've completed your application, you will be sent a link to upload a short video (max 3 mins) addressing the following questions:
* outline why you want to be a teacher and what or whom you want to teach (HINT: avoid general enjoyment of working with children and be specific about why teaching in particular)
* scholarship recipients will be expected to work in an SCS School during and following their studies. What have you enjoyed about being a member of a Catholic Community?
