We currently have a full-time opportunity for an experienced Painter. Join our Health and Education team at Sunshine Coast University Hospital and play a key role in providing painting, finishing, and surface maintenance services across hospital facilities, ensuring a safe, hygienic, and visually appealing environment for patients, staff, and visitors. Reporting to the Program Manager, you'll help deliver high-quality outcomes that support our essential services.

The role is Monday to Friday 7am – 3pm with generous overtime available and will require afterhours work.

What You'll Do (key responsibilities)

This role offers a broad scope, with key responsibilities including:

* Apply paint, varnish, stains, and other finishes to walls, ceilings, doors, and hospital equipment. Perform touch-ups and repainting in high-traffic areas to maintain a professional appearance.

* Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, patching, and priming before painting. Repair cracks, holes, and damaged surfaces.

* Conduct routine inspections of painted surfaces and recommend maintenance schedules. Assist with minor carpentry or plastering tasks related to painting work.

* Ensure all work complies with hospital safety standards, infection control, and regulatory requirements. Ensure safe use, storage, and disposal of paints, solvents, and chemicals. Comply with Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) standards.

* Work closely with other maintenance staff & Projects team to coordinate repairs and renovations. Communicate effectively with hospital departments to minimize disruption during painting tasks.

* Maintain logs of work completed, materials used, and areas serviced. Report supply needs and assist with inventory management of paints and tools.

What You'll Bring (experience required)

* Certificate or trade qualification in painting and decorating.

* Previous experience in commercial or institutional painting (hospital or healthcare setting desirable).

* The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of painting techniques, tools, and materials.

* Ability to match colours and finishes to hospital standards.

* Knowledge of OHS regulations and safe handling of hazardous materials.

* Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship

* Good communication and teamwork skills.

**Please note, as a prerequisite for this role candidates will be required to complete work rights check, pre-employment medical check, Working with Children Check, AFP National Police History certificate and reference checks.
