FIFO Communications Technician
Perth-based | FIFO ex-Perth | 8/6 roster | WA Mining Sites
Ruff Road Communications is expanding across Western Australia and is seeking an experienced, safety-focused Communications Technician to support critical communications infrastructure on remote mine sites.
This is a hands-on FIFO role focused on RF, data, fibre, and field-based maintenance work.

Key Responsibilities
You'll be involved across the full communications stack, including:
RF & Radio Systems
* Leaky feeder system installation, fault-finding, upgrades, and maintenance (ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE)
* Digital radio installations, configuration, and maintenance
(Icom, Tait, Motorola)
* Antenna installs, testing, and ongoing maintenance
* Repeater and base station maintenance and site support
Data, Fibre & Networking
* Fibre optic cable installation, termination, splicing, and maintenance
* Ethernet and structured data cabling installations and maintenance
* Point-to-Multipoint (PTMP) networking (Ubiquiti)
* Network fault-finding and remote-site troubleshooting
Control, Telemetry & Field Work
* Telemetry systems and remote pump control installs and maintenance
* Field fault-finding, diagnostics, and rectification
* Preventative and reactive maintenance on live operational mine sites
* Working independently on active production sites

What We're Looking For
Essential
* Demonstrated leaky feeder installation and maintenance experience
* Perth-based applicants only (FIFO ex-Perth)
* Australian permanent resident or citizen only
* Previous mining or remote-site experience
* Strong fault-finding skills across RF and data systems
* Safety-first mindset with strong site discipline
* Ability to work autonomously and as part of a small team
* Current unrestricted driver's licence
* National Police Clearance
* Ability to pass Drug & Alcohol screening and pre-work medical
Highly Regarded
* ACMA Open / Restricted Cabling Registration
* Fibre optic splicing experience
* Radio programming experience (Icom / Tait / Motorola)
* Working at Heights, EWP, Confined Space
* Construction White Card
* First Aid
