Operating across a large regional network, Warrumbungle Water is responsible for the ongoing maintenance, repair, and delivery of critical water and sewer infrastructure services throughout the region.
Warrumbungle Shire Council seeks a full‐time Team Leader Treatment Plants North based in Coonabarabran, NSW. The role reports to the Supervisor WW Treatment Plants and involves overseeing the operation, maintenance, and compliance of Council's northern water and sewer treatment infrastructure.
Responsibilities
* Lead day‐to‐day operations across water and sewer treatment facilities.
* Operate and monitor treatment plants, reservoirs, dams, pump stations, and SCADA/telemetry systems.
* Coordinate preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, emergency repairs, and contractor activities.
* Support procurement activities for chemicals, materials, contractors, and operational supplies.
* Ensure compliance with Australian Drinking Water Guidelines, EPA licences, and Council procedures.
* Manage operational records, water quality monitoring, testing, and compliance reporting.
* Mentor and support operational staff while contributing to a positive team culture.
* Participate in a rotating on‐call roster and scheduled weekend coverage.
Qualifications
To qualify, you must bring hands‐on experience operating water treatment and sewerage treatment systems, along with a current Australian Class C Driver's Licence. Experience within water utilities, treatment plants, or similar operational environments, especially in maintenance, troubleshooting, monitoring, or compliance activities, is highly regarded.
* Experience operating water and sewer treatment infrastructure.
* Exposure to SCADA, telemetry systems, and operational monitoring technologies.
* Strong troubleshooting and fault‐finding capability.
* Experience coordinating maintenance activities and contractors.
* Understanding of Australian Drinking Water Guidelines and environmental compliance requirements.
* Strong record‐keeping and reporting skills.
* Water or sewer treatment certifications, or willingness to obtain them.
* A proactive approach to safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.
