The Toowoomba Basketball Association Inc (TBA) is a community-based sporting organization. It is responsible for the management, control and development of basketball in the Toowoomba region.

TBA aims to conduct competitions and programs for all members of the community, whilst creating pathways to ensure players, coaches, referees and volunteers are able to achieve their full potential.

TBA is an affiliated association of Basketball Queensland Limited (BQ) and as such observes and abides by the policies and procedures of BQ including among others the BQ Codes of Behaviour.

TBA is governed by the Management Committee who are elected at the Annual General Meeting by members of the Association.

POSITION PURPOSE

This is a Permanent Position and will be paid under the Sports Organisation Award. The position is permanent part-time with an option to full-time.

The primary focus of the Competitions Coordinator will be to successfully manage all aspects of basketball competitions being managed by Toowoomba Basketball Association, from planning and logistics to team and stakeholder coordination.

This role will also involve on-court coaching & delivery of introductory level basketball programs and school programs in addition to administration & reporting activities to support the Association from time to time.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Competition & Program Delivery


• Develop, implement and supervise the delivery of a range of basketball competitions and carnivals ranging from school based and junior weekly competitions to high-level senior competitions including supporting player registration, weekly & annual scheduling, record keeping and rule enforcement.


• Schedule and support the Toowoomba Basketball Referee Community


• Provide support during match days by monitoring adherence to codes of conduct for players, coaches, and spectators, taking disciplinary action as needed.

Match day support may extend to helping with scorekeeping or other operational tasks as required.


• Support the setup and breakdown of competition venues, including equipment preparation (scoreboards, basketballs, etc.).

Communication & Engagement


• Assist with the on-court delivery of grass roots & community level basketball programs as required (mini-neers, walking basketball, etc)


• Assist with the delivery of school based and representative basketball programs (sporting schools, CBSQ, SQJBC, etc)


• Provide responsive customer service to players, parents and club officials.


• Promote TBA programs and achievements to the wider community and partners.


• Uphold and demonstrate Toowoomba Basketball's Values: Engagement, Community, Resources, Excellence, Inclusion, and Innovation.

Administration & Operations


• Attend all team meeting and coordination sessions for Operations staff.

• Working with the TBA Management Committee and Operations staff, assist in the management of projects such as hosting junior state championships, SQJBC games, etc.


• Assist with the development and administration of an accurate membership database.


• Working with the TBA Management Committee, maintain and foster a positive social media presence across all platforms including creation and posting of content in accordance with TBA communication and branding guidelines.


• Liaise with TBA's uniform & merchandise supplier to ensure that all TBA program participants receive required items prior to specified deadlines and the supplied items match TBA branding guidelines.


• Oversee the management & tracking of TBA owned items (balls, jerseys, keys, etc)


• Maintain TBA Annual calendar in collaboration with the TBA Management Committee and Operations staff

• Effectively communicate, develop and maintain partnerships, networks, and client relationships.

Governance & Compliance

• Ensure child-safe and member-protection practices are upheld across all programs.

• Maintain awareness of Basketball Queensland and Basketball Australia policies and requirements.


• Support preparation of compliance documents and risk management plans.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE


• Hold or ability to obtain a current Working with Children Check (or equivalent).


• Experience with reporting to a Management Committee (Board).


• Current Drivers Licence.


• Key Skills Competencies / Personal Attributes:

o Proven history delivering community basketball programs or coaching organised teams (essential)

o Confident Leader with strong interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills (essential).

o Collaborative, flexible, positive and innovative approach (essential)

o Experience scheduling and administrating structured competitions (desirable)

o Apply knowledge in a practical, commercial manner (desirable)

o Effective professional approach to positive problem solving and conflict resolution skills.

o High degree of teamwork and collaboration.

o Strong analytical and advanced administrative skilll.

o Proven ability to successfully work to KPls and strict deadlines.


• Ability to manage multiple and varied requests in a demanding and dynamic environment


• Ability to manage and lead a diverse group of individuals of varies skills and motivations.


• Understanding of principles of compliance with all required contractual and legislative requirements and the association's philosophy and quality standards.

OTHER SPECIAL CONDITIONS


• Daytime, evening and weekend work as well as regular travel will be required.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS


• Yearly Staff Performance Reviews presented to the board.


• Delivery of prescribed quantity of one-off carnival style competitions annually (reviewable).


• Delivery of year-round Junior & Senior Competitions including school based competitions in accordance with Toowoomba Basketball Domestic Competition Calendar (reviewable).


• Maintain strong lines of communication to and from the Board across all channels - And other directives as required.
