About the program:AIR6500 is the RAAF's $3 billion program to develop a joint air battle management system that builds on the capabilities offered by Next Generation sensor and command and control systems. AIR6500 will create a fully networked 'system of systems' that synchronises air and missile defence operations in joint and coalition environments, maximising situational awareness and enhancing the speed of decision making across the battlespace.
About the role:We're looking for a Systems Engineer to join our AIR6500 program – one of Australia's most significant Defence capability projects. In this role, you'll work across complex system and sub-system designs, applying Model-Based Engineering (MBE) to shape solutions that integrate cutting-edge technology for national defence.
You'll collaborate with subject matter experts across Lockheed Martin and our partners to develop requirements, trade studies, technical documentation, and design artefacts. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a mission-critical program in a collaborative and innovative environment.
Key responsibilities:
* Resolve system and sub-system requirements through decomposition and design in the MBE environment.
* Develop and represent key interface definitions.
* Drive trade-off analysis to balance design options against requirements.
* Deliver technical documentation including solution descriptions, trade studies, and requirements.
* Support project activities, reviews, and stakeholder engagement with SMEs.
* Contribute to bids, estimates, and winning new work activities.
About you:
To succeed in this role, you'll bring:
* Tertiary qualifications in Systems Engineering, Physics, or related discipline – or equivalent experience.
* Strong knowledge of C4ISREW domains.
* Experience with Model Based Systems Development and Engineering (DoDAF, SysML, MagicDraw, Rhapsody or similar).
* Proven background in complex systems design and trade-off analysis.
* Experience working in Agile development environments.
* NV1 security clearance and eligibility to access Export Controlled information.
Desirable
* Experience with requirements management tools (e.g. DOORS, DNG).
* Familiarity with DevSecOps development practices.
