Job Title: Country Leader
As a Country Leader, you will be responsible for leading a small team of Aboriginal Rangers in caring for the land and natural resources within the Municipality of Alice Springs. This role combines hands-on fieldwork with leadership, mentoring, and cultural engagement.
Key Responsibilities
* Coordinate daily operations and plan projects related to land management, conservation, and community-based initiatives.
* Work with Elders and Traditional Owners to develop and implement culturally informed programs.
* Lead on-Country trips, ensuring safety and cultural protocol.
* Manage projects, including fee-for-service works and stakeholder engagement.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* Experience supervising or mentoring staff in land management, conservation, or community-based programs.
* Cultural competency and experience working respectfully with Aboriginal Elders and Traditional Owners.
* Ability to take Elders and community members on On-Country trips, ensuring safety and cultural protocol.
* Physical fitness to work outdoors, including lifting, walking over rough terrain, and varied weather conditions.
* Current manual driver's license and ability to drive 4WD vehicles.
* Desirable: construction experience, project management skills, fire management and hazard reduction experience, trail maintenance experience, qualifications in Conservation and Land Management (Cert II or above).
