The Role
We’re seeking an experienced Bookkeeper who enjoys variety and takes pride in ownership and organisation. This role can be offered on a full‑time or 80% part‑time basis, with options including five days working school hours or four full days per week. It’s well‑suited to someone returning to work, balancing family commitments, or looking for flexibility without compromising career satisfaction.
This is a client‑facing bookkeeping role. You will be responsible for independently managing the day‑to‑day bookkeeping needs of a portfolio of WMS clients, across a range of industries. You will act as the primary bookkeeping contact for your clients, taking ownership of their records, transactions and reporting, while being supported by our advisory and tax teams.
Your core responsibilities include:
Bookkeeping & Accounts
* End‑to‑end bookkeeping for multiple clients
* Bank reconciliations and daily transaction processing
* Credit card and general ledger reconciliations
* Accounts payable processing
* Intercompany transfers
* Liaising with client stakeholders and external parties including banks, suppliers, landlords and insurance brokers
* Assisting with internal month‑end tasks and reporting
* Supporting preparation of budgets and forecasts where required
Payroll (Backup/Support)
* Assisting with client payroll processing
* Preparing and lodging superannuation payments, WorkCover, Payroll Tax, and PAYG withholding
* Preparing payroll tax calculations and submitting payroll tax returns
Compliance Support
* Assisting with client IAS and BAS preparation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with ATO lodgement deadlines
* Supporting the preparation of financial statements, tax returns, FBT, and other compliance tasks for the firm and clients as required
* Liaising with the ATO on behalf of clients, including requests for payment arrangements, lodgement extensions, and submission of Super Guarantee Charge (SGC) forms
About You
You are an experienced Bookkeeper who enjoys owning a client portfolio and working independently while still being part of a supportive professional team.
You will have:
* Strong bookkeeping experience, ideally within a professional services environment
* Payroll experience at a support or shared‑responsibility level
* Proficiency in Xero and Microsoft Excel
* Experience working with e‑commerce platforms such as Shopify and digital payment providers including PayPal and Stripe
* Exposure to Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) providers such as Afterpay, Sezzle, and Klarna
* Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
* Strong time management skills with the ability to handle competing deadlines
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, with confidence to liaise professionally with colleagues, clients, and external stakeholders
* Ability to work autonomously while contributing positively to a collaborative team
* Experience using FYI is desirable but not essential
