We're growing, and due to changing business needs, we're seeking a permanent Underground Mine Geologist to join our Geology team. Reporting to the Senior Mine Geologist, you'll be based at Sunrise Dam Gold Mine on a roster of 8 days on / 6 days off, with the choice of direct flights to our site from Perth or Kalgoorlie.
Sunrise Dam provides a rare career opportunity to work on one of the biggest and most geologically complex underground gold operations in Western Australia, deploying a unique underground grade control process utilising five underground RC rigs and conditional simulation. As Mine Geologist, you will add value by conducting detailed underground mapping and assessment of developments for ore/waste. When not underground, your time will be spent assisting with updating orebody interpretations, production tracking, QAQC, and planning and designing drill programs to help define reserves to support the operation's delivery of 250koz+ per year. The primary purpose of this role is to deliver the grade control, ore definition, ore production, material tracking, and reconciliation processes to meet monthly production schedules.
Responsibilities
* Demonstrate a strong affinity with AGA values, especially in safety 'walking the talk'.
* Coordinate within the geology and mining teams to ensure succinct and timely execution of the mine plan.
* Manage and report daily, weekly, and monthly production activities, reviewing to plan and reporting against scheduled performance.
* Undertake and oversee underground mapping and sampling of development drives. Train graduate geologists in all aspects of their roles.
* Contribute to updating orebody domains based on mapping and drilling information.
* Manage drill samples, QAQC of assay results.
* Contribute to drill database management, mine‐to‐mill reconciliations and material tracking.
* Manage reverse circulation drilling activities from scheduling to design and implementation.
* Assist grade‐control geologists in generating high‐quality models using conditional simulation techniques.
* Build and maintain cooperative relationships with alliance partners across site.
* Complete all tasks in accordance with safety instructions, procedures, and rules, and the duty of care.
Qualifications
* A relevant tertiary degree in Geology.
* Preferably 2 years of mine geology experience and comfortable with underground environments.
* A strong sense of safety.
* Good communication and written skills.
* A comprehensive understanding of the mining cycle.
* Proficiency in 3D software packages such as Vulcan, Leapfrog, & Deswik.
* Experience in QAQC practices.
* Full Australian working rights.
* Current C‐class manual driver's licence.
* The ability to obtain a national police clearance.
