Description
The Nurse Clinician will work in a multidisciplinary environment, requiring exceptional interpersonal skills. They must establish and maintain effective relationships with patients, physicians, clinical and administrative units. This position utilizes nursing skills to perform patient assessments via phone or in person and implement nursing interventions.
Responsibilities:
* Maintain a safe and clean work environment, ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations. Report deficiencies to the supervisor immediately and assist in rectifying them as requested.
* Provide pre-attending care for patients by performing comprehensive assessments of their chief complaint and needs using the nursing process. Document all nursing assessments in the patient's medical record, ensuring clear, complete, and legible documentation at all times.
* Perform routine nursing duties, demonstrating clinical competency in tasks such as phlebotomy, medication administration, vital sign measurement, and preparation of lab specimens.
* Interpret and define abnormalities detected in tests and procedures, taking appropriate remedial action and documenting interventions in the patient's medical record as necessary.
* Communicate and collaborate with other departments to coordinate patient care, as needed, and communicate with outside agencies or facilities as required.
* Triage and prioritize incoming telephone calls using clinical assessment skills and service standards, documenting all assessments in the patient's medical record as necessary.
* Manage urgent/emergent medical situations in accordance with the organization's protocols for medical emergencies and cardiac arrests, obtaining and/or operating emergency equipment as needed.
* Serve as a resource for staff and physicians, providing daily problem-solving and decision-making support while maintaining a consistent alertness to patient care needs.
* Comply with existing policies and procedures related to patient care, making recommendations for new policies and procedures to improve the patient experience.
* Initiate and coordinate patient education, providing teaching to staff on both formal and informal bases and participating in community outreach education programs.
Qualifications
Required:
* Associate's degree in Nursing
* Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
* State Licensed Registered Nurse for the state of employment
* Certification in Basic CPR
* 2 years of relevant clinical experience in an acute or ambulatory care environment
Preferred:
* Bachelor's degree in nursing (may be required for certain positions)
