We are seeking an experienced IT Solution Architect to join our team and play a key role in designing, evaluating, and delivering complex technology solutions across multiple domains.
This role will suit someone who can confidently translate business strategy into effective technical architectures while collaborating closely with stakeholders, product teams, and engineering groups.
You will work across architecture patterns, standards, governance, and solution design—bringing a strong technical background alongside excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Eligibility: Australian Citizenship is mandatory.
Baseline security clearance is preferred.
Key Responsibilities
Evaluate and define alternative solution architectures, including patterns, principles, reference architectures, and standards across multiple domains.
Assess and advise on trade-offs relating to cost, performance, scalability, and security.
Contribute to key artefacts such as technical designs, security plans, audit logging frameworks, and solution architecture documents.
Participate in Quality Assurance reviews and implement recommendations, including conducting code reviews.
Translate complex business strategies and drivers into tactical and strategic technology initiatives.
Define and validate Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs) in partnership with stakeholders.
Design and implement solutions including RESTful APIs for authentication and authorisation, ensuring alignment with best-practice architecture and database design.
Represent technical solutions to stakeholders and senior executives with clarity and confidence.
Technical Expertise
Strong experience with modern digital and engineering practices, including DevOps, Agile, and cloud delivery models (SaaS, PaaS, IaaS).
Hands-on experience with development frameworks such as .
NET, Java, and Angular.
Expertise with OAuth, OIDC, and cloud infrastructure (preferably AWS).
Knowledge of UML and experience producing technical documentation using tools such as Enterprise Architect.
Experience designing solutions involving PKI and integrating with Certificate Authorities (desirable).
Teamwork & Delivery
Work collaboratively within an agile delivery environment alongside Scrum Masters, Delivery Leads, Test Leads, Architects, Developers, Analysts and Product Teams.
Support the product and design teams to understand user requirements and translate them into practical technical solutions.
Maintain strong communication with team members, escalating risks that may impact delivery timelines or quality.
Contribute to building a high-performing and collaborative team culture.
Oversee solutions from inception through to production and BAU support.
Communication & Stakeholder Engagement
Communicate complex concepts clearly and effectively across a range of audiences—from technical teams to senior executives.
Tailor communication style to suit different stakeholder groups, using sound arguments and data to influence decisions.
Confidently produce well-structured written materials in various formats.
Build and maintain strong internal and external stakeholder networks.
Skills & Experience
7+ years experience in IT architecture within large enterprise environments (Government experience preferred).
Demonstrated expertise across: Custom Application Architectures, Technology Architecture, API Design, Event-Driven Architecture (EDA), Microservices Architecture, Unified Modelling Language (UML).
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Ability to manage multiple initiatives independently.
