* Fixed Term, Full Time
* Salary Classification: Registered Nurse, Year 1-8.
* Remuneration: $36.38-$51.08 per hour + superannuation + annual leave loading + salary packaging options + RDO's
The Role
Calvary Mater Newcastle are hiring a Alcohol and Drug clinical Liaison Registered Nurse, this is a 12 month fixed term role. They will be responsible for providing support and education to persons in the inpatient/outpatient settings who are affected by alcohol and /or other drugs. The Registered Nurse is also required to provide information and support to other health professionals
Duties
* Recognize and facilitate the effective implementation of patient flow and discharge-planning principles during consults.
* Encourage the involvement of the patient in planning and decision making.
* Liaise with Nurse Unit Manager for clinical guidance.
* Plan discharges ahead of time to ensure discharge occurs as early as possible.
* Attends and contributes to patient Clinical Review meetings.
* Where possible attends ward rounds with consultants and relay plans back to staff caring for patient.
* Conduct comprehensive drug and alcohol assessments.
* Discuss plans for follow-up care if required.
* Give advice within scope of practice to other health professionals.
* Liaise with other services such as Detoxification Units and Rehabilitation services.
* Protect the rights of patients while respecting their values, customs and spiritual beliefs.
* Provide education and information to patients and carers which facilitates their understanding and care.

About You
* Registered Nurse with current Authority to Practice with AHPRA.
* Demonstrated experience working with patients with drug and alcohol issues.
* Recent experience working in general medical/surgical or associated field.
* Demonstrated experience working in-charge or in Team Leader roles.
* Ability to work unsupervised, proficiently and in an organised manner during periods of high demand and activity with the support of the alcohol and drug team.
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
