Overview
This is a 10‐month fixed‐term, full‐time position commencing Term 3, 2026 with possible extension and/or permanency. The School of Alternative Learning Settings (SALS) – Bunbury – is seeking to appoint a teacher for this fixed‐term position at the Bunbury site. The SALS program, originally established in early 2019, was consolidated as a stand‐alone school in the 2022 academic year and delivers specialised activities and learning programs that build students' social skills and self‐regulation in environments designed to effect positive, lasting change in behaviour. The program provides access to specialists such as paediatricians, clinical psychologists, or psychiatrists. There are 13 SALS sites across metropolitan and regional Western Australia, and the Bunbury site includes a team of a program coordinator, three teachers, two student support officers, a youth transition officer and a psychologist.
The Role
The successful applicant will collaborate with a multi‐skilled team to further develop the program, inform our strategic direction and establish new sites. Responsibilities include:
* Teaching in a student‐centred model built around an ecological framework of support.
* Developing and implementing a social and emotional curriculum tailored to student needs.
* Supporting individual learning plans using an integrated curriculum approach.
* Engaging with students to promote their wellbeing and engagement.
* Participating in case management, de‐escalation and trauma‐informed practice training as required.
Teachers may be required to hold and maintain a valid WA driver's licence, transport students in lease or hire vehicles, and travel across sites to attend professional learning opportunities.

Eligibility and Qualifications
* Hold an eligible teacher qualification and registration.
* Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or hold a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of appointment.
* Apply for a WA Working with Children Check before starting; and
* Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before starting.
