Victoria Police's Information, Communications, and Digital Technology Division has been charged with creating world class software solutions to transform policing in Victoria. The frontline police officers and first responders will be using the applications every day in all aspects of their duties.
As we embark on one of the most exciting software developments you will have the opportunity to shape the outcome of a major software system that will directly impact and transform modern frontline policing. Your system will need to be dynamic and robust to allow for the challenging environment in which it is used. This is a greenfield project and will give you the chance to “do it right from the start”.
As an iOS Lead Engineer, you have the crucial role of building the application framework, upholding our software engineering processes and championing our standards and agile ways of working. You will work in a passionate engineering team dedicated to build and maintain solutions for our first responders to:
1. Manage critical incidents and state-wide events (including natural disasters),
2. Support proactive policing in the community, and
3. Assist specialist units tackling issues such as youth offending, road safety, and cybercrime.
We are seeking a talented and experienced iOS Application Engineer. This position offers opportunities to solve complex problems by working on diverse projects and would benefit from a versatile skill set backed by strong full stack iOS mobile engineering experiences.

As an iOS Lead Engineer, your duties will include:
4. Design, implement and maintain robust, efficient, and scalable iOS applications
5. Code using Swift programming languages
6. Utilise strong software development principles, DevSecOps and best practices.
7. Work with a variety of leaders, including police from across the organisation, our intelligence practitioners and senior management.
8. Work collaboratively with internal teams to define, design, develop, and release new features.
9. Unit-test code for robustness, including edge cases, usability, and general reliability.
10. Work on bug fixing, improving code quality, optimisations and application performance.
11. Engage in continuous improvement of all aspects of the software development lifecycle.
12. Coach and guide other developers and team members as needed.
As the successful applicant, you will have:
13. Tertiary qualifications in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related disciplines.
14. Possess a minimum of 5 years of professional experience developing native iOS applications, showcasing your mastery in the field.
15. Strong skills in Object-oriented programming.
16. Excellent understanding of defensive coding and security.
Requirements and relevant information:
17. One (1) x full-time, ongoing position available.
18. VPSG6 salary range $129,379 - $173,138 plus superannuation.
19. This position is located at Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands.
20. The successful applicant will be required to undergo National Security Vetting, achieve and maintain a security classification as determined by the Department Head. To achieve this, applicants must be an Australian Citizen. ( Australian Citizenship is a must. PR not sufficient )
