Overview Of The RoleAs a Nurse Specialist – Human Resources within the Western Australian Country Health Service, you will collaborate closely with clinical managers and nursing agencies to effectively manage staffing needs, participate in performance management, and facilitate quality improvement activities. Your expertise will help to foster an efficient and supportive environment for all nursing staff, ensuring high standards of patient care.This position is located at the Kalgoorlie Health Campus. Kalgoorlie is Australia’s largest Outback city where mining, history and bushland combine, located 595 km east-northeast of Perth.Working with WA Country Health Service - GoldfieldsCountry Nursing And Midwifery Incentive ProgramThe Country Nursing & Midwifery incentive program is available to new and existing nurses and midwives - across a broad range of patient-facing roles - on fixed term or permanent contracts at eligible locations. Eligible nurses and midwives can receive between $5,000 and $17,000 in support over 12 months. Please refer to the WA Country Health Service - Country Nursing and Midwifery Incentive Program website for eligibility criteria.Ideal CandidateRegistered Nurse eligible for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of AustraliaExtensive post-registration management experienceIn-depth knowledge of industrial relations, including Awards/EBA’s and grievance proceduresStrong understanding of Human Resource and Health Support Services (HSS) processesExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, including mediation capabilitiesProficient in personal computer applications and data managementCommitted to ethical practice and accountabilityKey ResponsibilitiesCoordinate the recruitment, appointment, and resignation of nursing and midwifery staffLiaise with Nurse West and nursing agencies to address staffing needsMaintain an overview of NHpPD data for all areas in the GoldfieldsActively participate in the nursing management team, aiding in policy development and strategic planningUndertake performance management for contracted staff and support exit interview processesArea ProfileThe Goldfields region of the WA Country Health Service covers the Goldfields-Esperance Region of Western Australia. The region is located in the south eastern corner of Western Australia and covers 770,488 sq km (including offshore islands). The WA Country Health Service Goldfields consists of two main health campuses located in Kalgoorlie & Esperance, and three smaller hospitals located in Laverton, Leonora, and Norseman. The Goldfields is a culturally rich region with a number of Aboriginal communities spread out across the region, 16 distinct Aboriginal language groups and an Aboriginal population that represents 12.3 per cent of our total population, with 1 in 10 people, on average, identifying as Aboriginal – this in comparison to the state average of 3.6 per cent. The region supports a wide range of industry, including mining, agriculture, aquaculture, and tourism.
