Job description

As an Associate Consultant or Associate Analyst, you will be a valued team member on consulting projects for our public sector and social purpose clients. In this role, you will:

* Solve complex public policy and social impact problems: Work with clients and project teams to understand the real-world problem, break it down into clear questions, and develop practical, evidence-based solutions.
* Turn data into insight: Analyse and interpret data to uncover meaningful insights, sense-check results for accuracy, and translate analysis into clear implications for decision-makers (using tools such as R, Python or SQL where relevant).
* Communicate and collaborate to deliver impact: Present findings in clear, client-ready formats, contribute confidently in client meetings, and work collaboratively with the team to deliver projects and build the firm.

We are looking for applicants for this graduate or early career role to start in early 2027.

We are hosting online information sessions about the 2027 Graduate Program through February 2026. These sessions are hosted by Ember consultants, including recent graduates.

These sessions will cover:

* Overview of Ember's work and example projects
* Overview of the graduate program and application process

Requirements

* Australian citizenship required
* Qualifications in actuarial studies, data science, maths, commerce, computer science, economics and/or finance
* Previous consulting experience desirable but not essential
* Demonstrated interest in solving complex problems in the public sector
* A commitment to ethics and integrity
* Experience working with or willingness to learn data analysis techniques (Excel, Python, R, modelling, visualisation)
* Strong critical thinking and analytical skills, and a creative mindset
* Adaptability in a fast-paced work environment
* Personal accountability – a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to take initiative and drive projects forward
* Team player – having an ability to work well with others, positive attitude, and growth mindset
