SUMMARY
Grounds Maintenance Worker is responsible for maintaining and improving the appearance of government-owned grounds, including parks, public buildings, and other properties. This involves performing a range of tasks, such as mowing lawns, trimming hedges, pruning trees, planting flowers, and applying fertilizers and pesticides.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Knowledge of grounds maintenance equipment and tools.
* Ability to operate and maintain grounds maintenance equipment.
* Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations related to grounds maintenance work.
* Strong communication skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Basic record-keeping and organizational skills.
* Good physical condition and able to lift and move heavy objects.
* Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
* Ability to work with the public in a professional and courteous manner.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Experience

Education
High school diploma or Equivalent required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
* Work is primarily performed outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
* Work may be performed in a variety of settings, including parks, public buildings, and other government-owned properties.
* Work may be performed during normal business hours, as well as on weekends and holidays, as needed.

ROLE/LOCATION SPECIFIC ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
This is a full-time position.
POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is a full-time position (40 hrs./week). Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, with overtime as needed before/after shifts and on Saturdays.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Regular commute to primary work location is not considered travel.
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.
