Located at Services Building (G12) on the Darlington Campus Provide expert Health and Safety advice to multiple client groups at the University Base Salary HEO8 $126,065 - $142,171 p.a. 17% superannuation About the opportunity The University of Sydney is welcoming applications for an experienced and motivated Health, Safety and Wellbeing (HSW) Partner to join the HSW Partnering team. This role provides high‑quality expert advice to support the delivery of health, safety and wellbeing strategy, policy, and planning, and the effective implementation of the University’s Health and Safety Management System (HSMS). As part of the HSW Professional Services Unit (PSU), the HSW Partner delivers high-quality, stakeholder-focused health and safety services while contributing to the development and continuous improvement of University-wide systems. Working collaboratively with stakeholders across the organisation, the HSW Partner promotes a proactive safety culture, advances leading practice in risk management, and supports safe, healthy working environments across both occupational safety and occupational health and wellbeing. In close partnership with Health and Safety leadership, the role offers practical operational guidance to ensure the effective and consistent application of the HSMS across diverse areas of the University. As a generalist practitioner, the HSW Partner is supported by Senior Specialists within the Centre of Expertise, providing access to deep technical knowledge across all aspects of health, safety, and wellbeing. Your key responsibilities will be to: provide high‑quality, expert health and safety advice to management and workers partner with a broad range of stakeholders (as allocated) to support the achievement of agreed health, safety and wellbeing objectives review local HSW governance arrangements and provide advice to strengthen implementation, effectiveness, and compliance support the development and integration of local HSW plans. contribute to HSW meetings, reporting, and progress updates, and coach leaders to achieve agreed outcomes provide feedback to support the ongoing improvement of HSW policies, procedures, and standards proactively research and implement innovative health and safety solutions that drive continuous improvement. About you postgraduate qualifications in Health and Safety, or an equivalent combination of relevant training and experience demonstrated ability to manage highly sensitive matters and consistently exercise sound judgement, discretion, and diplomacy excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proven experience presenting to diverse audiences, facilitating workshops, and chairing meetings strong knowledge of risk management principles and the application of relevant legislation, codes of practice, and Australian Standards. demonstrated practical experience in Work Health and Safety, with a sound understanding of legislative requirements, standards, and guidelines proven experience in business partnering, including developing tailored solutions, influencing outcomes, and negotiating effectively with stakeholders within organisational constraints experience working with unions or employee representative groups (desirable).
