Fire Support Role
Auxiliary firefighters play a vital role in supporting emergency services. As part of a team, you will work together to keep communities safe.
* Respond to fire and other emergency incidents as a member of a team.
* Promote community safety through education activities.
* Develop competencies by participating in regular drills and training courses.
* Be eligible for or hold a current Blue Card.
* Have a manual C Class driver's licence.
* Live or work within a reasonable distance of an auxiliary fire station.
* Be an Australian Permanent Resident.
As an auxiliary firefighter, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills and experience in a dynamic and supportive environment.
The QFES uses the Leadership Competency Framework to assess candidates against the key accountabilities of the role. The selection criteria include:
* Attending 50% of calls as a day worker with routine hours or 30% of calls as a shift worker or having non-routine hours.
* Attending 75% of regular drill and training sessions.
* Obtaining an MRV licence within 12 months of employment.
* Participating in ongoing skills acquisition and maintenance programs.
