Your new role
We are looking for a motivated individual who is solution focussed when it comes to building, maintaining and managing local roads. With your strong leadership skills, you will guide the team to consistently deliver excellent outcomes for our community and our team. You will also be responsible for the development of proactive and planned maintenance programs across the region, including but not limited to Council's own road and stormwater networks, Council's RMPC contract and DRFA programs when in effect.
Reporting to the Civil Works Manager, this position will have direct supervision and accountability of urban based teams delivering construction and maintenance programs. and provide essential guidance and oversight to the urban work groups.

This position has a strong technical element so you will be required to have appropriate skills and experience. This position requires the completion of a satisfactory Criminal History Check - Police Certificate (Australia Wide Name Only Police Check).

* Highly experienced strategic and pragmatic thinker with demonstrated project management skills.
* Have knowledge of relevant Legislation and Regulations, technical guidelines, and industry standards.
* Degree qualification in Engineering (Bachelor of Engineering – Civil)
* Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) or ability to obtain.
* Queensland DTMR Traffic Management Design Qualified or ability to obtain.

Application Criteria
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, build and maintain stakeholder relationships, with ability to engage, inspire, lead and mentor staff to achieve positive business outcomes with a One Team approach.
* Demonstrated ability to develop, document, implement and refine technical standards, operational guidelines and other relevant systems in a Roads & Drainage construction and maintenance environment.
* Demonstrated project management experience in a Road and Stormwater construction.
* Bachelor qualification in Engineering (Bachelor of Engineering – Civil), registered as a Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ), with experience leading and supervising an internal day labour force.
