Job Summary
The IT Technician is responsible to use their expertise to monitor, and maintain all IT systems. The IT Technician must be focused on specific computer networks, databases, or systems administration. Must be able to service, repair and maintain information technology systems in both a stand-alone and client-server environment. The IT Technician must be able to participate in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the organization and ensure that system hardware, operating systems, and software systems are fully operational. Implement the Iron Mountain integration plan to ensure all Iron Mountain processes are followed consistently and embedded. Managing and tailoring, when necessary, global processes which will drive organisational performance.
Key Accountabilities
* Hardware Diagnostics & Repair
* Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair desktops, laptops, servers, and peripherals
* Identify and replace faulty components such as RAM, hard drives, power supplies, and motherboards.
* Fault Identification
* Systematically identify hardware and software faults through diagnostic tools and manual testing.
* Provide accurate root cause analysis for recurring or complex issues
* System Imaging & Installation
* Install and configure operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux)
* Use disk imaging tools to deploy standardized system setups
* Software Troubleshooting & Updates
* Resolve software errors and application conflicts
* Perform routine system updates, patch management, and driver installations.
* Data Sanitization
* Perform secure data wiping and sanitization of storage devices in compliance with organizational and regulatory standards
* Ensure devices are free of sensitive or confidential data before reuse or disposal
* Preventive Maintenance
* Clean and maintain internal hardware components to ensure optimal function
* Perform health checks to prevent failures and reduce downtime
* Testing & Quality Control
* Run tests to verify proper operation of repaired or reimaged systems
* Confirm that devices meet performance and security standards before deployment.
* Inventory & Asset Management
* Track inventory levels and update asset records.
* Maintain accurate documentation for all repairs, parts used, and equipment status.
* Documentation & Reporting
* Log technical issues, repairs performed, and resolutions.
* Keep records up to date for audits and compliance.
* Customer Support & Communication
* Provide clear, timely updates to users and IT support staff.
* Explain technical solutions in a user-friendly manner when needed.
* Compliance & Safety
* Follow proper ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) and safety procedures.
* Adhere to company IT security policies and data protection guidelines.
Knowledge/Skills/Experience
* Sufficient experience as a IT/helpdesk Technician
This includes:
* Knowledge of hardware technology and concepts
* Strong knowledge of data sanitisation, and computer hardware, including Servers, PC Desktops, Laptops, Printers, etc
* Proven analytical and problem – solving abilities.
* Professional image, attitude and method of operation
* University degree/diploma or 2 years equivalent work experience.
