ABOUT THE ORGANISATION
We’re partnering with a nationally respected engineering consultancy to deliver critical infrastructure recovery across Queensland - and they’re on the hunt for a skilled DRFA Civil Engineer to join their dynamic Gold Coast-based team.

ABOUT THE ROLE
This role offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced Civil Engineer to be part of a growing team delivering critical infrastructure recovery under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA) program. Based in the Gold Coast, you’ll work across the full project lifecycle - from on-site damage assessments through to desktop evaluation, design documentation, client engagement, and construction-phase support. You’ll be responsible for conducting site inspections, identifying infrastructure failures, preparing DRFA submissions using the RADAR platform, and coordinating closely with geotechnical, environmental, and cost disciplines. The role involves a blend of technical civil design, project management, and client-facing interaction, providing a dynamic, hands-on environment for engineers who enjoy variety in their work. You’ll be working with a highly respected, employee-owned consultancy known for its technical excellence and strong industry reputation. YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
Onsite:
* Conduct site inspections and record damage
* Identify failures including potholes, pavement damage, slips, guardrail issues
* Assess and document damage using the TMR-standard RADAR platform (training provided)
* Work closely with Geotechnical and Environmental teams to assess DRFA eligibility
Desktop:
* Complete and review RADAR inputs, including uploading DVR imagery
* Assist with and review civil inputs for DRFA notifications and funding submissions
* Assess DRFA eligibility against pre-disaster data and existing road authority records
* Prepare and compile Phase 1 DRFA Submissions for minor and major sites
* Work with Geotech teams to develop Damage Assessment Matrices (DAMs)
* Provide concept sketches, treatment strategies, and estimates
* Liaise with TMR Project Managers on scope and submission lodgements
* Respond to queries regarding treatment eligibility, quantities, and damage scope
* Apply simple civil design principles to repair documentation
* Coordinate with structural, geotechnical, environmental, and cost teams
* Prepare BoQs and professional technical documentation
* Liaise with the wider engineering and drafting teams to ensure accurate outputs
* Compile contract documents in line with TMR specifications and annexures
Additional:
* Engage with clients and attend external meetings as required
* Provide construction phase support and respond to RFIs
* Support and mentor less experienced engineers where needed
* Contribute to a positive team environment in-office and on-site
ABOUT YOU
The Ideal Candidate will have:
* 8–12 years’ civil engineering experience
* BEng (or equivalent) and RPEQ or RPEQ-eligible
* Strong understanding of TMR specs and contract delivery
* Background in asset management or road maintenance advantageous
* Previous DRFA project experience highly regarded
* Confident communicator who thrives in both field and office environments
* Desire to work face-to-face and mentor junior engineers
* Broad interest in end-to-end project involvement — from planning through to supervision
