Due to growth, we have an exciting opportunity for a Governance & Policy Officer to join their highly motivated and dynamic team in the Newcastle region. This newly created position provides direct support to the Corporation Secretary and Registrar and the Senior Governance Specialist.
**Key responsibilities**:
- Provide administrative support to the Corporation Secretary & Registrar and Senior Governance Specialist.
- Preparation of business papers, taking of minutes, distribution of briefing material and proper record keeping.
- Administering the Board Management Portal
- Processing and administration of the Proper Officer functions including responding to subpoenas and requests for information from external parties.
- Provide support for the administration and development of the policy library.
- Drafting, editing, reviewing and publishing of policy documents
- Assist the corporation secretary with regulatory compliance notifications
- Assist the corporation secretary with the governance of legislative compliance.
- Maintenance of corporate register
- Balancing complex and multiple issues with sensitivity to resource requirements, business impact and relationships with stakeholders throughout policy development.
- Communicate with key stakeholders and collaborate with colleagues to coordinate and provide governance services to working groups, committees, subcommittees.
**What we're looking for**:
- Undergraduate or recent graduate in Social Sciences, Public Policy, WHS, HR, Economics Degree or Certificate IV OR higher in Business Administration with experience in policy development
- Demonstrated conceptual, analytical and critical thinking skills, and ability to interpret complex information rapidly and accurately.
- Demonstrated understanding of governance requirements of a governing body
- Current Working with Children Check (WWCC) and NDIS Check or willingness to
- Willingness to undertake a National Criminal History Check (Relevance of any reported outcomes will be considered)
- Current drivers' licence
