An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced legal professional to join the Public Transport Authority (PTA) in a key role providing high‑quality, strategic legal advice to ensure lawful performance of the Public Transport Authority’s statutory functions. Operating with a high degree of autonomy, this position plays a critical role in supporting the Authority’s activities through the interpretation and application of legislation, drafting and negotiating contracts, and building strong, collaborative stakeholder relationships.
The role provides legal advice across a broad range of acts and areas of law, with a particular focus on contract law, land and property and construction law, including the legislation relevant to the exercise of powers and functions of the PTA.
Working closely with the General Counsel, the successful applicant will contribute to legislative compliance, promote legal awareness across the organisation, liaise with the State Solicitor’s Office and other agencies, and support the effective operation of the Legal Services Unit.
About You
* Be admitted, or eligible for admission, as a legal practitioner in Western Australia, have extensive experience across private practice, in‑house corporate or government environments.
* Have highly developed communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with senior stakeholders and diverse client groups.
* Possess strong conceptual, analytical and problem‑solving capabilities.
* Demonstrate a proven ability to work with a high level of professional autonomy, manage competing priorities and consistently meet deadlines.
