About Us:
McDermott Aviation is one of Australia’s largest and most versatile helicopter operators, supporting aerial firefighting, utility, and maintenance services across the country and internationally. With a strong commitment to safety, technical excellence, and innovation, we are expanding our engineering team and seeking a Structures Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) to join our bases on the Sunshine Coast.
The Role:
As a Structures AME, you will be responsible for performing structural repairs, modifications, and maintenance on our diverse rotary-wing fleet including Bell 214B, Bell 214ST, AS355, B206 and B47 helicopters. This role offers exposure to a wide range of challenging work, both scheduled and unscheduled, in a supportive and dynamic team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Carry out structural inspections, repairs, and component fabrication in accordance with CASA regulations and company procedures
* Interpret engineering drawings and technical manuals
* Use metal forming, riveting, bonding, and composite repair techniques
* Ensure accurate documentation and reporting of maintenance activities
* Work collaboratively with the broader maintenance team to support operational readiness
Requirements:
* Certificate IV in Aeroskills (Structures) or equivalent trade qualifications
* Demonstrated experience in structural maintenance and repair, preferably on rotary-wing aircraft
* Understanding of CASA regulatory requirements and industry standards
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Must be eligible to live and work in Australia
Desirable:
* Previous experience with Bell series helicopters
* Experience in composite and bonded structures
* Familiarity with CASA/ FAA Part 145 maintenance environments
