Geophysics is an exciting field that involves the study of the Earth's internal and external physical processes. A Graduate/Junior Geophysicist plays a crucial role in this field by assisting with geophysical surveys, processing datasets, and engaging with equipment maintenance.
About the Role:
We are seeking applicants for a full-time position as a Graduate/Junior Geophysicist to work on road, rail, and mine infrastructure projects across Australia (focused in New South Wales, Victoria & Queensland) with potential for international work.
The position is based out of our Sydney office with travel required to onsite project locations. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to develop their skills in geophysical acquisition and processing software such as Rayfract, ParkSeis, Oasis Montaj (Geosoft), Res2DInv, Seis Imager 2D, ReflexW, and WellCAD.
Responsibilities:
1. Assist with the collection of geophysical surveys including seismic refraction, MASW, electrical resistivity, magnetics, ground penetrating radar, electromagnetics.
2. Undertake downhole geophysical logging surveys with a range of techniques.
3. Assist with processing, drafting, and reporting of geophysical datasets.
4. Engage with the maintenance and safe operation of geophysical equipment.
Requirements:
* Bachelor Degree of Science majoring in Geophysics or Geology.
* Numerical, analytical, and observation skills.
* Ability to problem solve.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to work within a team environment.
* Familiarity with geophysical acquisition and processing software is preferred.
* Valid working rights in Australia.
* Ability to pass a medical exam and regular drug and alcohol screening.
