Overview
Department for Education, South Australia is seeking a Senior Test Analyst to join the Data Operations and Service team within the System Performance Division. This role focuses on end-to-end testing of data products to support the department’s strategic information goals and objectives, mentoring Test Analysts, and implementing testing best practices.
About The Role
The Department for Education is a leading provider of public education in South Australia, operating over 900 schools and preschools. The Data Operations and Service directorate manages data ingestion, storage, organisation and governance within the Department\'s data warehouses/repositories. The Senior Test Analyst will contribute to data product testing across the cloud data platform, support the Test Lead, and ensure timely, quality delivery of the Data Operations and Service program.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the end-to-end execution of testing activities, aligning with project schedules, policies, and quality standards.
- Develop and manage test strategies, test cases, and test data to support project delivery.
- Oversee test environments and tools, ensure effective test data management and environment availability.
- Manage defect lifecycle, monitor risks and issues, and ensure quality outcomes within agreed tolerances.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, vendors, and partners to support effective test delivery.
- Take ownership of testing across all layers of the cloud data platform (ingestion, transformation, semantic/business, and visualisation).
What We\'re Looking For
- Proven experience as a Test Engineer (5+ years), with strong expertise in manual, automation, and database testing.
- Solid knowledge of software testing methodologies, defect management, and QA practices.
- Strong understanding of cloud platforms and data warehouse/ETL testing.
- Proficiency in SQL for test data validation and analysis.
- Ability to lead end-to-end testing activities, mentor team members, and drive quality outcomes.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Special Conditions
The successful applicant is required to gain a Department for Human Services (DHS) WWCC prior to employment, renewed every five years. The role also requires RRHAN–EC Facilitator Lead (Masterclass) or Fundamentals course updated every three years. Refer to the attached Position Description for other special conditions.
