BAI Communications is a leading provider of broadcast, telecommunications and critical communications services across Australia. We operate one of the world's most extensive broadcast networks, delivering fully managed television and radio services to 99% of the Australian population.
The role involves working as part of a team of Riggers, performing installation, maintenance and inspection work on radio, broadcast and telecommunication structures/sites across Queensland. Regular on‐site attendance in remote locations for extended periods is required; the position cannot be performed remotely.
Key Responsibilities
* Install, dismantle and maintain masts, towers, poles and associated plant.
* Work at heights on all areas of large broadcast towers.
* Direct and oversee concrete pours.
* Operate vehicles and mechanical aids where a relevant ticket is held.
* Terminate and install feeders, waveguides and coaxial cable.
* Fault find antennas, tails and feeders.
* Undertake mast and tower verticality checks.
* Haul and install waveguides, feeders and coaxial feeds in Manufacturer's approved manner under team leader guidance.
* Install and inspect underground ducts, cables and earthing.
* Mark out work sites using reference pegs or points to prescribed tolerances under team leader guidance.
* Install and maintain earth station antennas.
* Assist in EME surveys and installation of rigid line.
* Assist in the installation of low and high‐power transmitters and associated equipment.
* Take charge of project components as directed by the team leader.
* Undertake mast and tower inspections in accordance with company systems and procedures.
* Complete inspection templates on digital devices.
* Accurate and timely timesheeting and management of leave/TOIL.
Qualifications
* Demonstrate experience and competency in the key responsibilities listed above.
* Be available to travel extensively.
* Understand, analyse and work from structural and technical plans.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to pass regular medical appraisals (fit to climb).
Required Licences & Tickets
* High‐risk licence in intermediate rigging or higher.
* Driver's licence.
* RF awareness certificate.
* White card.
* Telstra induction card.
* Senior first aid certificate.
* Working at heights and tower rescue certificate.
* Experience with EWP, forklift, mobile plant and crane operator licences is viewed favourably.
