Photoreal character animation | Karma / Solaris / Houdini
We're looking for talented lighting artists to join the team at Alt VFX on an exciting photoreal live action character animation project. You'll be working in Solaris / Houdini with Karma as our primary renderer, integrating CG characters seamlessly into live action environments.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR IN YOUR REEL
Your reel must demonstrate a strong eye for photoreal CG integration within live action footage.
We'll be paying close attention to how well your work handles light interaction, contact shadows, cast shadows, and reflections that convincingly place a CG subject into a real-world environment. Show us shots where the lighting tells a story of integration, not isolation.
Requirements
* Proficiency in Houdini (Solaris) and Karma renderer - this is our primary pipeline and non-negotiable
* Nuke compositing skills are essential - slap comps are a core part of the daily workflow and you'll be expected to comp your own work for review
* Ability to anticipate and problem-solve technical and creative challenges before they become blockers
* Strong self-management - you own your milestones, track your own deadlines, and flag issues early
* Clear, proactive communication with leads, TDs, and cross-department collaborators
Location
* This role is based at our Brisbane office - all applicants must be available to work on-site in Brisbane
* Remote work or placement at our Sydney office may be considered for the most senior applicants, but only following a successful trial period based in Brisbane
