You'll assist in assessing planning applications, providing advice to developers and the public, and supporting the enforcement and development of planning controls under the Mildura Planning Scheme and relevant legislation.This Cadetship is a two-year contract, with the ability to extend up to the successful completion of a recognised planning qualification.As part of this role, the successful candidate will be eligible to apply, through Council, for the Regional Planning Cadet Program.
This program provides funding to rural and regional councils to assist the cadet with tertiary tuition fees.
The funding covers tuition for a planning course at an Australian tertiary institution, which may include an undergraduate certificate, graduate certificate, diploma, bachelor's degree, or master's degreeWhat You Will BringCurrent or prospective enrolment in a recognised town planning or equivalent courseA genuine interest in urban development and community planningStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work collaboratively in a team environmentCommitment to customer service and confidentialityBasic knowledge of planning legislation and proceduresProficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer systemsA current driver's licence and willingness to obtain a Police CheckSalary and ConditionsThe position commences at Band 4 of Council's Current Enterprise Agreement ranging from $70,611 to $75,498 per annum.
