Join our Downer Professional Services team and play a key role in delivering complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia's future.
We currently have an opportunity for a Communications Technician in Canberra to work on Joint projects.
What You'll Do
Executing complex communications technical and maintenance assurance activities in line with agreed priorities, milestones, and outcomes.
Exercising assigned technical authorities and ensuring compliance with technical regulatory requirements.
Providing detailed technical and maintenance advice and support to the ILSM SHFC, contributing to planning, decision-making, and sustainment outcomes.
Identifying risks, implementing corrective actions, and supporting continuous improvement in communications systems and processes.
Supporting workforce development through mentoring, technical guidance, and effective knowledge management.
What You'll Bring
Technical Expertise in Communications Systems – Proven ability to develop, assess, and assure technical packages and product performance.
Risk Management and Regulatory Compliance – Skilled in identifying risks, recommending corrective actions, and ensuring alignment with Defence safety and policy frameworks.
Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration - Strong interpersonal skills to liaise with internal Defence teams, industry partners, and suppliers to influence outcomes.
Strategic Problem-Solving and Decision-Making – Demonstrated capability to apply professional judgement and contribute to planning and sustainment decisions.
Relevant Qualifications and Experience – Higher education or vocational qualifications in a related field.
Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting 1 or higher Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth.
In some instances, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements may also be an inherent requirement.
