Description AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We keep the cloud running by supporting all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure customers have continual access to the tools they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain, and we're looking for talented people who want to help.
You'll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You'll collaborate with people across AWS to help deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. This role is for an experienced EHS Manager, Safety Specialist or Safety Engineer. The primary responsibility is to work as part of a team to support safety operations in Melbourne, Australia, with potential opportunities to support other states or countries.
The chosen person must be an effective communicator, conveying clear, concise, and consistent messages verbally, in writing, or in public speaking forums. This individual must advise, instruct, and train company personnel on safety policies and procedures and assist teams in incorporating safety standards at their sites.
You will work with internal and external partners to maintain and enhance the safety of operations. Coordination with onsite physical security, vendors, compliance officers, risk management, and fire/life safety systems is required. You will also work with employees and contractors to achieve safety objectives and collaborate on construction builds.
This role will report to the Regional Safety Manager, Australia & New Zealand, and is based in Melbourne; some international travel may be required.
Key responsibilities
* Implement safety standards, policies, and practices including safety management systems, training, and risk assessments.
* Collaborate with groups within Amazon (Facilities Managers, Human Resources, Operations) and outside vendors (General Contractors, sub-contractors, Emergency Services) related to operations and construction.
* Ensure compliance and implementation of global safety programs and local regulatory legislation.
* Develop safety plans for on-site emergencies, special events, and other unique safety situations.
* Perform safety data analysis and create benchmarking.
* Ensure safety recordkeeping and provide accurate reporting and metrics to support business safety initiatives.
* Consult and work with legal for safety regulations interpretations and investigations.
* Develop and implement solutions to eliminate exposure to risks and prevent injury.
* Adapt to fast-paced environments with changing circumstances, direction, strategy, and deadlines.
Hold or be able to attain an Australian Government Security Vetting Agency clearance.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
* 2+ years of industry experience
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent, or experience in an industry role
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience in industry work in a related environment
* Experience with OSHA and other health and WHS regulatory requirements
