Visit us hereAbout Your RoleThe Enrolled Nurse will be responsible and accountable to the Nurse Unit Manager and work collaboratively with members of the multidisciplinary team.The Enrolled Nurse will assist in the provision of a broad range of structured activities and programs and be expected to work with others in providing quality clinical services to mental health consumers, their families, and carers. The Enrolled Nurse will also be required to undertake quality activities conducted within the clinical setting.The Enrolled Nurse is an associate of the registered nurse and is required to demonstrate competence in the provision of patient-centred care. As specified by AHPRA, the enrolled nurse works under the direction and supervision of the registered nurse and is responsible at all times for his/her actions and accountable in providing delegated nursing care.In areas of health and functional status, the nurse undertakes assessment, interventions, evaluation, and monitoring and at all times maintains ongoing communication with the registered nurse about the outcome of care.The nurse has ongoing responsibilities for providing emotional support and comfort to patients and to advocate for and facilitate the involvement of individuals, families, and carers in the planning and evaluating of care.The Transitional Behavioural Assessment and Intervention Service (T-BASIS) unit is an 8-bed unit which provides multidisciplinary assessment, care planning, and intensive treatment for older people with severe behavioural disturbance associated with dementia and/or mental illness. Staff within the T-BASIS units devise, monitor, and adapt bio-psychological treatment strategies and are involved in the development of detailed multidisciplinary care plans for each consumer.The T-BASIS model of care includes outreach services to residential aged care facilities and community care providers to enhance the capacity of these providers in the care of older people with severe behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia, reducing admission and facilitating discharge from the T-BASIS unit.The Specialist Mental Health Service for Older Persons (SMHSOP) unit is a new 8-bed gazetted unit under the MHA 2007 which provides acute mental health support to persons aged over 65 with psychiatric conditions. The unit is committed to providing contemporary and innovative approaches to care and recognises consumers as experts in their own condition.
